Dr. Laurence Blauvelt (Dr. Larry) began the pursuit of a dream at the age of 8, when he decided he wanted to dedicate his life to treating and caring for animals. Dr. Blauvelt earned his undergraduate degree at The Ohio State University and then went across the Atlantic where he received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Parma University in Italy. He began his veterinary career at Antelyes Animal Hospital, and accepted a position as an Associate Professor in the Veterinary Technician programs at Suffolk Community College and Farmingdale University.
Dr. Blauvelt dreamed of opening his own small animal practice, and in 1993 that dream came true with the launch of Carman Avenue Veterinary Hospital. The combination of Dr. Larry’s loving and outgoing demeanor, plus his technical expertise, resulted in a fantastically popular veterinary practice. Despite the busy practice, Dr. Blauvelt is also a member of the Nassau County Medical Reserve Corps, and is a volunteer with the Suffolk County SPCA. While Dr. Blauvelt isn’t working, he spends time with his adoring family; his wife, Kim, and their children, Christian, Katie, and Tyler. Let’s not forget their beloved dog, Pei! A die-hard Buckeyes fan, Dr. Blauvelt’s interests include playing guitar, Halloween, and civil war collecting.
